Avvo, Inc, is looking for a seasoned, experienced, online guru. We’ve been growing at a rapid pace, both in engagements and in sales. Now it is time for us to hire a world-class Vice President of Marketing. We need someone who has deep experience in consumer Internet marketing. We need that person who has taken the Internet rocket-ride in the past; who understands all of the marketing opportunities and pitfalls therein.

We’re looking for that true ‘guru’ with a deep portfolio of online marketing success stories, a talent for guerrilla marketing, and a track record of building consumer brands without spending millions of dollars. This is not a job for beginners or wanna-be’s – it will take every bit of savvy, experience and skill you can bring from a long and stellar career.

Avvo, Inc., the world’s largest legal directory, empowers consumers to handle their legal matters with confidence. We do this by providing consumers with more information and better guidance regarding lawyers and legal matters than they’ve ever had access to before. This includes rating and profiling 90% of the lawyers in the U.S., client reviews, peer reviews and attorney disciplinary records. We also offer an industry-leading question and answer forum and legal guides that help consumers get the help they need.

Your role
Avvo has gone from concept to market leader in 3 short years. However, we need an experienced and creative marketing mind to help us succeed in our next stage of development. The VP of marketing will be a key member of our executive team, reporting directly to the CEO.

Your primary focus in the short term will be to build quality consumer traffic for the Avvo.com website. If you’re the right candidate, we’re prepared to back you with serious resources to accomplish that goal.

Responsibilities
Primary manager and marketing strategist for Avvo’s B2B and B2C efforts
Oversee the following primary marketing functions:
Online marketing focused on traffic generation and sales, including SEO, e-mail and social media
Public relations and communications
Syndication of the company’s information to third-party websites
Thought leadership within Avvo’s professional communities
Offline marketing, including events and seminars
Development of the Avvo brand
Retain and lead Avvo’s high-performance, world-class marketing team and recruit new talent for this team
Manage a significant budget and successfully forecast and manage ROI for all marketing programs

Requirements
10+ years in consumer marketing
5+ years in a marketing leadership role in an Internet business
Demonstrated ability to build consumer demand in a lean, entrepreneurial environment
Proven ability to successfully build and lead effective marketing teams
Strong analytical thinking skills and a passion for translating quantitative and qualitative data into consumer insights
Experience navigating process and strategy across multi-functional teams
Stellar communication and leadership skills
