HR Business Partner needed for Intellectual Ventures

Intellectual Ventures (“IV”) is a privately-held, invention investment company based in Bellevue, Washington. Founded in 2000, IV’s business model centers on creating, acquiring and licensing pure invention in a variety of technology areas. IV plans to commercialize inventions through licensing, spin-offs, joint ventures and industry partnerships.
Summary:
Intellectual Ventures is seeking an HR Business Partner to join our growing company and provide high quality HR support. This position will focus on creating and maintaining positive employee relations while working closely with the business to achieve strategic objectives. This is a high volume environment with a challenging work load.
Responsibilities include:
• Coach and support the business while providing strategic HR partnership. Provide grounded HR and OD expertise, grow into a trusted advisor that provides insightful observation, acts as a change leader and supports the business by driving results.
• Guide and influence decisions in employee relations matters pertaining to transfers, promotions, demotions, leaves and disciplinary action, ensuring equitable treatment of employees and implementing actions designed to assist management in the effective and efficient conduct of the line of business.
• Oversee HR processes that include performance reviews, new hires, transfers, promotions, and terminations/resignations.
• Take a lead role in company-wide communications, employee recognition and employee morale initiatives.
• Manage Performance Management and feedback processes helping to ensure high performing teams.
• Assess and increase the effectiveness of managers and leaders in the organization through coaching.
• Ensure compliance with corporate policy guidelines and governmental regulations.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of Human Resources programs and processes.
• Establish and deliver against HR priorities within client groups.
• Meet with employees and counsel managers to resolve employee relations issues.
• Contribute to development and implementation of Human Resources programs and processes.
• Facilitate HR trainings, team buildings and brown bags sessions.
• Handle miscellaneous administrative tasks- employee files, salary changes, reporting, data entry, etc.
Key Qualifications and Required Skills:
• 8+ years of Human Resource generalist experience to include benefits, employee relations and employment law.
• 3+ years of Human Resource management experience.
• Proven knowledge of employment law (i.e. EEOC, FLSA and ADA) required.
• Experience managing C-level clients.
• Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills and ability to negotiate and persuade others.
• Prefer Bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Human Resource Management, Business Management, and Industrial Psychology/Organizational Development/Education/Psychology.
• Success working in complex, fast paced, high-growth entrepreneurial environment.
• Strong knowledge of related technical areas: Windows based software packages: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
