Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will shape and execute the company’s go-to-market strategy, providing the leadership and focus needed to rapidly grow the Company as a leader in corporate health and wellness. The successful candidate will be both: externally oriented, leading the Company’s sales and marketing activities and expanding the Company’s industry leadership; and internally oriented, providing effective leadership, overseeing day-to-day operations and instituting the appropriate management systems to support and sustain rapid growth. The CEO will also be the key spokesperson with such communities as industry consortiums, market analysts, venture capitalists, and Wall Street. He/she will ensure that the Company attracts top executive talent and will be instrumental in shaping a high performance culture.
Ideal Professional Experience:
• Leadership: Previous CEO and start-up experience, successfully growing a company from zero to $25M in three to seven years. Prior success establishing a new category, market segment and service/ product line. Provide meaningful leadership toward the achievement of the company’s vision, mission, strategy, in order to achieve key quarterly sales quota, business development milestones and product advancement objectives.
• P&L Responsibility: Will have had prior P&L responsibilities in excess of $25M or revenue responsibilities in a fast growth environment. Demonstrated ability to execute against critical metrics including revenue, profitability, cash positions, EBITDA and ROI for new initiatives.
• Sales and Distribution: Experience building both direct and indirect sales channels domestically. Execute and deliver on all sales and distribution goals. Experience selling to senior executives of Fortune 1000 companies. Has the personal creditability to gain access to senior executives.
• Sector Expertise: Prior experience and domain expertise in the health insurance and corporate wellness, nutrition, fitness or employee benefits sectors is beneficial. Also beneficial, but not required is experience in SAAS or CRM industry.
• Board Administration and Support: Supports the operations and administration of the company by interfacing between the Board of Directors and the company team.
• Product, Program and Service Delivery: Lend vision to product design, development, marketing, promotion, and.
• Business Expansion: Lead capital raising efforts as required. Experience raising capital within the venture capital community, a strong plus. Proven M&A expertise including ability to lead successful company acquisitions and integrations.
• Fiscal Management: Recommends yearly budget for Board of Director approval and prudently manages organization’s resources within those budgetary guidelines.
• Recruitment of Team Members: A successful track record hiring “A” players for key positions throughout the organization.
• Human Resource Management: Effectively manages the human resources of the organization according to personnel policies and procedures. Establish a high performance, high integrity and customer oriented culture.
• Community and Public Relations: Assures the company and its mission, programs, products and services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image.
Profile of Attributes:
• A dynamic and charismatic person with a passion to build a company and high-performing teams. A style compatible with an early stage company who knows how to get things done quickly with minimal resources.
• A willingness to form a strong alliance and respectful partnership with the Founders.
• A passion for physical fitness and an active, healthy lifestyle (Golf does not count as “active”). Preferably played sports at a collegiate or higher level, triathlons, marathons, semi-pro sports.
• A career track that includes both large and small corporate environments and at least one or more early-stage companies. Experience with Health and Wellness, SAAS, Social Networks, CRM, Loyalty Marketing a plus.
• An individual with a hands-on, roll-up your sleeves, entrepreneurial style who thrives in a collaborative environment.
• A motivational leader rather than an administrative manager. Fosters a creative, performance-oriented culture. Knows how to have fun!
• A leader who combines a strong sense of self with the ability to remain open to others opinions and ideas. Confident in your convictions and possess a high level of personal integrity.
• Exceptional listening and interpersonal skills and persistence in managing through tough situations.
• Posses an undergraduate degree and likely posses an MBA.
