Bioinformatician for Integrated Diagnostics (Institute for Systems Biology)

The mission of Integrated Diagnostics is to leverage powerful emerging technologies in the development of diagnostic products that enable physicians and patients to manage complex and important diseases such as cancer, lung disease and CNS diseases through blood tests that can monitor tens to hundreds of disease markers simultaneously. Integrated Diagnostics was founded by Lee Hood of the Institute for Systems Biology.

Join this spin-off in the beginning and be a part of something memorable.  Integrated Diagnostics seeks to add a Bioinformatician to join their growing team. The Bioinformatician is a member of the scientific team responsible for selecting biomarker candidates on targeted diseases, analyzing proprietary and public datasets derived from genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic analyses, and providing bioinformatics support for all company projects. The position reports to the Director of Bioinformatics.

Must possess a MS or Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computer science, mathematics, physics, statistics, or engineering and a minimum of 3 years of industrial work experience participating within a team oriented environment.  Strong programming skills and proficiency with script languages (such as PERL) and computing languages (C, C++, or Java) are essential.  Experience with Excel, pathway/network analysis, data management, and data mining on public databases is required.  A record of developing new bioinformatics tools is preferred along with hands-on experience on analyzing large-scale genomic, transcriptomic and/or proteomic datasets. Should have experience on analyzing large-scale mass spectrometry datasets, working knowledge on relational database, R/Bioconductor, and Matlab and ability to work under both Windows and Linux/Unix systems.
